THE GOAT!!! 1968 Marshall JMP50 - PLEXI - Collector Grade
Very Good condition… you will not find one that looks and sounds better!
SN: S/ 11232 so 1968 per Marshall web site.
& matching quad box in seperate ad, see "1968 Marshall Basket Weave 1960 4 X 12 Cabinet"
This was the model that sculpted the sound of rock and as used for both live and recording purposes by artist like Van Halen and Angus Young.
I think the 68 JMP50 is the holy grail of Plexi Marshall amps.
1968 Marshall JMP50 Plexi in absolutely amazing condition.. collector grade.. no tears in the tolex only tarnished gold metal handle ends. Essentially The cabinet and Tolex are in great shape (better than a lot of 68’s I’ve seen).
It’s the original Marshall logo... Amp has been sitting under cover in a man cave for over 50 years and used for occasional smoke free studio sessions and some gigs.
Australian 240v plug, but can be changed with the voltage plug in the amp settings to 110v or other etc.
Ted Samuels (T.S. Amp Repairs Annadale Australia) who worked on AC/DCs amps in the 70s and 80s modified one speaker out into a line out... this can easily be reverses by a technician if required.
Ownership history:
I purchase the 1968 Marshall JMP50 - PLEXI from the guitarist of the Australian ABC Show Band in 1979. He was the original owner of both head and quad.
1968 Model Features
• White logo (as opposed to gold)
• Amp model prefix changed from JTM to JMP (Jim Marshall Products)
• Transformer turned 90 degrees in comparison to earlier models (to reduce hum)
• Curved lip under the control panel (previously straight lip)
Recently serviced/cleaned by legendary Australian amp techniciam Ivan Richards. He completed new German caps, loaded with new tubes, general overhaul and sounds superb!
